Outdoor curtains – textile façade

The Cross House by architect Daisy Jacobs in ARGE with Kollektiv Marudo is located in Schänis (CH). It is situated in the hill side with an incredible view over the valley and towards the mountains with an 80 cm wide arcade one can walk through the house feeling the connections of light and darkness, earth and sky, narrowness and space.

I was commissioned for an art & architecture contribution that resulted in a permanent textile installation. The woven outdoor curtain spans around 25 m horizontally and integrates into the façade bringing soft, body connections into the architecture. The curtains can be draped horizontally and vertically being always slightly in movement with the weather.
The colour gradially moves from the areas used by night in a dark green, blue, purple towards the day areas with lighter colours in grey, ochre and purple.
